Down the Hatch was located in the downstairs open area of a shopping centre.
It has a very casual layout with a bar, a mini-stage for live music, and a small stream running through.
You place and pay for your order right after you go down the stairs. Then you are given a number for your table.
Food service was impressively quick.
I loved everything about their ono fish sandwich. Usually, it would be an ahi fillet, but ono was the catch of the day. The fresh fish steak was grilled and seasoned nicely, not overcooked at all. The mango salsa and aioli took the flavour to another dimension?. Also, the shoestring fries were thin and crispy, just the way I liked them.
B’s lava lava spicy chicken sandwich was humongous. It was cheesy, saucy and crispy all together. Basically a perfect grilled cheese sandwich with fried chicken filling. Delicious!
I would come back again for casual eats anytime.
